Calendar Art

This is my calendar art!
My bird is a Kereru/Wood pigeon.

Peace Week 2017

I have been learning about Peace Week.
Peace Week is an annual tradition organised by The Peace Foundation every year. You can learn more about The Peace Foundation by following this LINK.

As a way to learn about Peace Week I did three different Peace Week activities.

With Miss Brennan we created a poster to help promote peace and Peace Week.
With Mrs Baker we made hand print doves and wrote messages of peace on them.
With Mr Horn we looked at the symbols of peace such as the dove and created origami doves.

Here is an example of one of my activities

Student Led Conference

My highlight at my student led conference was showing my statistics poster because it looks really good and I am proud of it.
I am most proud of sharing my writing because I shared my amazing monster soup instructions.
I think my parents enjoyed playing a maths game because they were having fun.
Next time I would like to be more confident.

Reading

My learning goal this term is recognise and use new vocabulary.
I can do this by looking up new words in dictionary.
This photo shows my learning:

Procedure Writing

WALHT write a procedure
Something I learned about writing a procedure is you need to number the steps.
Something I would like to do better is use more verbs
Here is a photo of my learning

Statistics

WALHT Interpret data and record our findings.
Something I learned was that you need to look carefully at graphs so you can see the key.
Here is a photo of my learning.
My next step is to think more carefully about my answers and use a ruler to draw bar graphs.

Dance

At dance we are learning hip hop and salsa.
I enjoyed learning new moves for hip hop because your whole body is moving.
I learnt to do salsa a lot better.

writing

WALHT: Add a twist to our writing

Here is my poem

I didn't fly to Mars
I didn't go to a desert
I didn't catch a fish
but I did have a party

I didn't eat a shark
I didn't eat whale
I didn't eat 100 apples
But I did eat popcorn

I didn't see Mt Everest
I didn't see Mt cook
I didn't see a big guinea pig
But I did see Ellie

What I would like to do better is add more rhyming more words

Punchy Poetry

I have been leaning to create an example of simile.
This is my example: the soldiers walked as far Australia
Next time I would like to include a simile in a poem.

Taiao Programme

I have been learning to be safe around the kitchen.
We made apple crumble.
I learned how to use a knife.
Something I would like to learn more about is grating apples safely.
